6 core units of the 10 unit CHC81115 Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution may enable some applicants to achieve the FDRP qualification in a shorter study period.
Applicants with pre-qualifications of Bachelors of Law, Psychology, Social Work, or can provide a certified National Accredited Mediator qualification (NMAS) may have the opportunity to qualify as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner by only completing 6 core units of the 10 unit CHC81115 Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution.
The Attorney General’s department will allow the above pre-qualifications to be submitted along with a statement of attainment for the 6 core units of the CHC81115 Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution, or, in the cases of some independent Universities, a qualification that the department deems as the “same as” the 6 core units of the CHC81115 Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution, as sufficient enough to be accredited as an FDRP.
The Attorney General’s website states the following:
Practitioners can meet this accreditation requirement by:
- completing the full Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (or the higher education provider equivalent)
or - have an appropriate qualification and competency in the six compulsory units from the Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (or the higher education provider equivalent)
or - have accreditation under the National Mediation Accreditation System (see information below about NMAS) and competency in the six compulsory units from the Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (or the higher education provider equivalent).
Please Note:
The 6 core units does NOT allow you to be awarded with the CHC81115 Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution, nor, does it qualify for the unique Mediator Training Academy pathway to a Masters of Conflict and Resolution with James Cook University.
The 6 core units are delivered entirely online and “work at your own pace” as well as the entire Graduate Diploma. For more information regarding qualification, please email:
